Halaqah Tingz is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization focused on increasing our sisters spiritual and intellectual knowledge in the DMV. We’ve created a sisterhood like you’ve never seen. Having a common goal of gaining closeness to our Creator, we strive to keep a space that’s judgement-free and fosters a place of learning. Not only do we serve the Halaqah Tingz Community, but we also serve the DMV Community.
What are Halaqahs?
Halaqahs are religious gatherings with the purpose of studying Islam and the Quran. Halaqahs have been performed since the beginning of Islam and Halaqah Tingz aims to keep up the heritage of these sacred circles and spreading Islamic knowledge.
How did Halaqah Tingz start?
Halaqah Tingz started with a Ramadan Iftar in the Livingroom of one of our sisters home. One theme that resonated with us, was not having a space to learn about Islam in that was congenial. That conversation birthed what you all now know as Halaqah Tingz, Alhamdullilah. Since then, we’ve been meeting monthly with a topic of discussion focused on getting closer to Allah (swt). Our topics are unique and challenges us to think beyond just the information presented. They challenge us to be better with the new information we have and keeps us accountable as students of life.
What ways can I get involved?
There are many ways you can get involved! Joining out community is the best way to stay abreast of our upcoming events. Supporting our non-profit organization with donations and volunteer efforts is paramount in fueling our mission and creating meaningful change within the DMV Community.
