Don’t Freeze Up

Jummah Mubarak, sis! If you’re in a place with low seasonal temperatures right now, the days have been quite cold. It’s normal for your moods to shift a bit, but less sunlight outdoors can affect our emotional state during shorter days. Just like water, our emotions can change and transform. Water can go from liquid to solid to gas, and sometimes it can hold multiple forms simultaneously. The most captivating aspect is when water becomes a solid and forms crystals. It’s the most beautiful thing in the world, and each crystal is unique, just like snowflakes. Interestingly, water behaves differently in positive and negative spaces. In positive spaces, it creates beautiful crystals, while in negative spaces, it forms distorted figures. Do you find yourself becoming more positive in certain environments and less so in others? Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate the places we visit and the people we surround ourselves with, as they can have lasting impacts on us. Remember, even the coldest places can produce beautiful crystals, but if the energy within is distorted, it will manifest.

Surah Al-Baqarah | 2:77

أَوَلَا يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ

“Do they not know that Allah is aware of what they conceal and what they reveal?”

While this ayah pertains to the Jews who claimed to believe in Islam but concealed their true beliefs, we can also apply it to the things we hold within ourselves. What we present to the world may not fully reflect our true selves. Allah swt knows us best and understands what we conceal. Just as the crystals mentioned earlier may appear clear and pure, but their impurities cannot be seen with the naked eye, there are tests that can reveal these impurities, but they cannot be seen directly. Similarly, water can have one appearance when it’s liquid, but it can form either beautiful crystals or distorted crystals when it’s frozen, depending on the water’s exposure. In today’s complex world, our inner work is of utmost importance. Knowing that our Maker has our best interests at heart is a source of immense relief.

Allah swt reminds the Jews that He is omniscient and knows what they attempt to conceal, as well as what they say or do openly. This serves as a reminder to purify our intentions.

Hidden Messages in Water - Dr. Masaru Emoto

This work by Dr. Masaru Emoto, who famously studied the effects of emotions, words, and energy on water molecules, does an amazing job connecting water to the many messages in life. Emoto discovered that water exposed to positive, loving, and kind words would form beautiful, symmetrical crystals, while water subjected to negative or harsh words would form disordered, chaotic structures.

The hidden message in this text encourages self-reflection on how our environments and the people we interact with influence our emotional and energetic state. Just like water, our emotions are fluid and can shift depending on our surroundings, and we can either transform into something beautiful and harmonious or become distorted by negativity.

The mention of "positive spaces" and "negative spaces" parallels Dr. Emoto's findings, urging us to recognize how environments—whether physical, emotional, or social—affect our wellbeing. The message suggests that just as cold environments can still produce beautiful snowflakes if the energy is right, even tough or challenging circumstances can bring out the best in us if we focus on positivity and growth. It’s a reminder to seek out places and people that nurture positivity, as these influences can shape our emotional and mental states in profound ways, just as water’s molecular structure is shaped by its environment.
