Health and Tingz
Jummah Mubarak sis! The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, there are two particular blessings that people miss out on or don't take advantage of: health and free time. So how have you been spending that time and how are you taking care of your health sis? This vessel we’ve been blessed with needs maintenance. The way we take care of ourselves does speak volumes about our gratitude to Allah swt. Our upcoming Halaqah will focus on Islam and Wellness. Hope to see you there insha’Allah!
Al Ma’idah 5:88 (The Table Spread)
وَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَـٰلًۭا طَيِّبًۭا ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنتُم بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنُونَ
“Eat of the good, lawful things provided to you by Allah. And be mindful of Allah in Whom you believe.”
Like this example above, the Quran has examples of the importance of maintaining a healthy balance and how we need healthy bodies and minds to worship Allah swt in the right way. The Quran also shows that our body is a trust from Allah swt that should be treated as a great blessing. Allah swt loves us so much that He has shown concern even with what we eat and put in our body. Our body functions as good as the product we feed it. If we fill it with poor products, then how can we expect our bodies to produce tough bones, strong muscles, a good heart, and clean vessels. Part of taking care of bodies is showing gratitude to Allah swt.
So let‘s challenge ourselves to take pride in our body‘s and minds that we‘ve been blessed with. Let‘s also thank Allah swt for the millions of ways our body‘s function, down to the cellular respiratory processes. We pray for good health, a sound mind, and healing for those in need. - Allahuma Ameen.
