That Loss is not a Setback
Jummah Mubarak, sis! Friendships can be incredibly difficult, especially when they end. We’ve all gone through this, and it’s never easy. But with time, we learn that not everyone is meant to stay in our lives forever. Some people come into our lives for a certain season, and once we accept this, it becomes easier to embrace the truth that “That Loss is not a Setback”.
It’s important to remember that we still have a role to play in these situations—by being consistent, showing kindness, and moving forward with peace. This is often much easier said than done, but the rewards of perseverance are far greater. When we persevere through tough moments, we create space for healing and growth.
Allah swt is the ultimate source of peace, even in the most chaotic situations. Whether it’s a broken friendship or a difficult trial, He is the one who can calm even the most restless hearts. Take comfort in knowing that Allah swt understands your struggles better than you do and, ultimately, He is the one in control.
For example, think about a runner who falls during a race. The ground might be hard, and the pain is real, but the runner gets back up, determined to finish the race. Every step might feel heavier than the last, but perseverance and consistency eventually lead them to the finish line, where the victory is even sweeter because of the struggle. Just like that runner, you too can keep moving forward, trusting that Allah swt is with you every step of the way.
Surah Ash-Sharh | 94:6
إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًۭا
"So truly where there is hardship, there is also ease."
Here’s our friendly reminder that even in times of difficulty and hardship, ease and relief will eventually come. With patience and perseverance, Allah swt promises that ease will follow, and that trust in His plan can bring comfort to the most challenging situations. It’s truly difficult to deal with loss, especially when it feels like something or someone was meant to be a constant in your life. I can completely relate to the pain of going through such moments. The hurt is real, and sometimes it feels as though the weight of it will never lift. But as I reflect on these struggles, I’m starting to find comfort in knowing that Allah swt has something far greater in store for me.
It can be tempting to think that when we lose something important, it’s a sign of setback or that we’re being punished. But we must remember: Allah swt would never take something from us unless it’s a means to elevate us. He never removes something from your life with the intention to bring you down. Allah swt, in His infinite wisdom, may take something away because He knows what is best for you, and He’s preparing you for something far greater, something that might be beyond what we can even imagine.
For example, think about how a seed needs to be buried in the ground, hidden away from sight, before it can bloom into something beautiful. The seed goes through darkness and pressure, but that’s part of the process. What seems like a loss or a difficult time is actually Allah swt positioning you for growth, elevation, and an even better future. Trust that your hardship is part of that growth, and every step you take through it is leading you closer to a blessing that might be far more than you ever expected.
Don’t for a second think that Allah swt won’t replace what you lost with something even better. His plan for you is always for your highest good, and He’s aligning things in ways we can’t always see. This is why we must trust in His timing and wisdom. Every challenge, every moment of loss, is part of a bigger picture that is being designed for your elevation. You’re being put in a position to receive something far greater than what you lost. So get ready, because your blessing is on the way. Stay patient, stay strong, and most importantly, stay faithful in knowing that Allah swt has only good for you.
"Don't Be Sad" by Dr. Aaidh Al-Qarni
In this book, the author emphasizes how important it is to find peace and contentment in the face of loss, hardship, and personal struggles. One of the key lessons from the book is that loss is not a setback but a chance for growth, and every trial can lead to a greater blessing if we trust in Allah swt’s plan.
Dr. Aaidh Al-Qarni often speaks about how life is full of tests, but these tests are a means of purification and elevation for the believer. He reminds us that Allah swt never burdens a soul beyond what it can bear, and each hardship is an opportunity to strengthen our faith and reliance on Him. The book teaches us that even when we experience pain and loss, we should not despair because Allah swt has something better in store for us, just as He does for the believer who trusts Him with patience.
The idea that Allah swt would not take something from you unless it is for your ultimate good is a key concept that is echoed throughout "Don't Be Sad." Dr. Al-Qarni highlights that Allah swt may remove something from our lives not to harm us but to protect us from something worse, or to make space for something more fitting for our journey. This perspective helps us to overcome feelings of despair during tough times and recognize that Allah swt’s plan is always better than our own.
Just like how the book advises, don’t let loss make you feel defeated; instead, see it as a moment of preparation. Dr. Al-Qarni shares examples of how great figures in Islamic history, like the Prophet (saw), faced difficulties but emerged stronger, with better opportunities awaiting them. Every challenge faced with patience and faith in Allah swt’s wisdom is a stepping stone toward something better.
In the same way, you’re being put in a position to receive greater blessings, whether that’s peace of mind, new opportunities, or people who are meant to uplift and support you. As the book teaches, “Don’t be sad, for Allah has a better plan for you”. So, trust in Allah swt’s timing, stay patient, and look forward to the blessings that will come from your perseverance. The elevation you are experiencing through your struggles is part of a bigger, beautiful picture that only Allah swt knows best.
Get ready, because the best is yet to come.
